Ongoing - Highlight of the Week

Explore the Lava Tubes in Snow Canyon Park

  • Date: Ongoing

  • Location: Snow Canyon State Park, Dammeron Valley, UT 84783

  • What to Expect: Collapsed volcanic tunnels you can climb down into — hollow basalt caves left behind 27,000 years ago when a lava flow's crust hardened while the molten rock kept draining out underneath. It's a one-mile walk across a black lava field, then a scramble down a hole in the ground into pitch-dark, 20-degrees-cooler chambers that most people who live here have never actually been inside. If you go, don’t forget a flashlight!

And that’s a wrap! See you next Thursday with another update on the best events and activities around Saint George!
